The Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA), formally established in 1967, is a progressive trade association providing leadership and quality service to its members and the plastics industry.
MPMA is the official voice of the Malaysian plastics industry, representing its members and the industry in Government interaction, spearheading the plastics industry’s growth and providing the platform for training of members to upgrade the technological level of the plastics industry.
MPMA currently has over 900 members, which represent about 60 percent of plastics manufacturers in the country and account for 80 percent of the country's total production of plastic products.

Mission Statement:
- We strive to provide quality service to
our members

plastics manufacturers in the country and to achieve this through

Objectives:
- To promote the use, manufacture and
processing of plastics
- To protect, assist and enhance the
interest of manufacturers of plastics
- To organise and provide various means of
training to help upgrade the technological level of the plastics
industry
- To encourage co-operation among
manufacturers of plastic products both within and outside Malaysia
- To gather, analyse and provide
statistical and technical data as well as other information of
interest
- To provide a platform for members to
interact and to foster closer rapport among members
- To co-operate with other trade
associations, non-governmental organisations and other bodies of
common interest to ensure the healthy growth of the plastics industry
- To collaborate with the Government in
the promotion of the plastics industry towards achieving the
country’s vision of becoming a developed nation by the year 2020
- To promote the growth of the plastics
industry and transform it into a global player taking into cognisance
its social responsibility towards the environment and community
Activities:
- Setting up a plastics technology
training centre to provide skills-upgrading training courses to its
members
- Undertaking the function of writing
industry standards for plastics so as to upgrade its members’
technology and competitiveness
- Undertaking the responsibility of
plastics waste management and to carry out various work programmes to
reduce, reuse and recycle plastics
- Organising seminars, talks, forums and
conferences
- Organising short-term courses on
plastics, mould making and mould desing, etc
- Organising overseas trade missions
- Organising and participating in trade
missions
- Organising and participating in trade
exhibitions, both locally and internationally
- Co-ordinating the display of members’
products at MPMA’s plastics product showcase via the Internet
- Publishing a Member’s Directory on a
biannual basis
- Publishing a quarterly in-house
magazine, ‘Malaysian Plastics Digest’, informing members on the
latest plastics technologies, plastics industry developments and
activities of the Association
- Arranging dialogues with members of
various sub-process groups
- Conducting studies and collecting
general statistical information on the plastics industry
- Participating in regional plastics
industries groupings, that is, the ASEAN Federation of Plastics
Industries (AFPI) and the Asia Plastics Forum (APF)
